Kobudo

The club runs an occasional Kobudo section. The weapons taught are Bo, Sai, Tonfa, Nunchaku. We practice a blend of Ryukyu Kobjutsu and Kenshinkaikan Kobujutsu.

There is a very strong link between Karate and Kobudo and the two were originally taught side by side in Okinawa.

As the club is traditional Shito Ryu club, all brown belt and above participate in bo staff initially followed by sai, tonfa and nunchaku.  In fact participation takes place even before brown belt. However due to space requirements these tend only to be run in summer months outdoor. We enjoy training kobudo in summer months outdoor, particularly on the hills of Edinburgh.
